IAMAW Local Lodge 2458 is located at Argonne National Laboratory, Argonne, IL. Argonne is owned by the U.S. Department of
Energy. It is operated by the University of Chicago.
Most of us are
working over at the Advanced Photon Source. 
The local was established in June 16, 1971 by its membership
elections.
On October 5, 1971 received its certification from the IAM and was
designated as "ETOP-IAM Technician Lodge #2458".
In October 1971 the local had 443 members. On June 21,
1972 our local went out on strike because the negotiations failed that
began in February. The strike lasted until August 1972.
February 21, 2003, we had over 191 active
members.
As of February 23, 2007 we are in the 150's.
