January 12, 2008 - During this week we were informed by our Laboratory Director that Argonne National Laboratory like all other Department of Energy face a budget shortfall. 88 million dollars got cut out of the 2008 budget. Like many of the National Laboratory's we are hoping that our U.S. Congress might be able to correct this oversight that lead to this problem. As of February 1, 2007 we are at 153 members. At our October 2006 meeting the lay offs are finished for a while, with a 156 of us left. From over 293 members a few years ago. We are now at 164 members as of April 6, 2006. This is from ongoing lay offs. We have been informed that the E.T. Division is going to be eliminated, it is unknown as far as our 18 members in that Division. If they can be placed in other Divisions at Argonne. On February 17, 2007, we had our monthly meeting. For our member that were unable to attend this meeting. They missed a Very Nice Dinner for the cost of five dollars. Enjoy the Videos.
